The Austrian architect Frederick Hundertwasser (1928-2000) called straight lines "the devil's tools".
Hundertwasser is best known in New Zealand for the
Kawakawa toilets and his 1983 design for a new national flag, the green spiral Koru Flag (an upright version of the design can be seen in photos 5 and 10 of the link).
